Android phone setup (Metropolia Staff)
NOTE! Before you start…
Before following this guide, you must accept the cloud service terms as instructed. You will be able to log in to Microsoft cloud services with your account no later than two hours after accepting the terms. After that, you can begin setting up the phone according to this guide.
You do not need to sign in to the phone manufacturer’s own apps (e.g., Samsung or Nokia), even if the phone asks for a username and password.
Insert the SIM card into SIM slot number 1. If the SIM card is in the wrong slot, the phone cannot be registered in the remote management environment!
Make sure you can log in after changing your phone!
When you switch to a new phone, you will lose the MFA authentication information stored on your old device, which you need for logging in. Therefore, before changing your phone, make sure you have also enabled SMS authentication. After that, you can set up the Authenticator on your new phone.
Follow the instructions: How do I enable Microsoft Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)?
Why didn't my new phone come with a charger?
Manufacturers no longer include chargers with new phones because, in most cases, the charger from your previous phone will also work with the new one. If you don't have a charger left over from your previous phone or a compatible charging cable, you can contact Helpdesk using the contact information provided below. Helpdesk will provide you with a new charging cable or charger.
You can also mention your charger requirement in the additional information field of your procurement request.
