I can't download Office 365 to my personal computer, what should I do?
This response does not apply to devices maintained by Metropolia.
This answer only applies to Office installations on personally owned computers.
Follow the instructions
First, make sure that you followed the instructions in the Installing Microsoft Office on a Home Computer during the installation.
If downloading Microsoft Office 365 from the Microsoft website is not successful, even though I can log in there with my Metropolia credentials
- Open a new incognito window in your browser.
- Go to https://office.com in the incognito window.
- Log in with your Metropolia credentials in the format username@metropolia.fi (not in the format firstname.lastname@metropolia.fi, but using your "short form" username followed by @metropolia.fi).
- Click on "Install Apps" in the top right corner and select "Other install options".
- If you still see an error message like "You currently have not been assigned an Office license that includes the Office desktop apps. Contact your admin for more information about how to get Office for your organization." or any other error message, take a full-screen screenshot of the notification and continue following these instructions.
If you don't see an error message, you will see the options to download Office. In that case, you can proceed with the installation using the guide Installing Microsoft Office on a Home Computer.
Click on "Subscriptions" on the left side of the screen. The view should resemble the image below.
- Create a written service request.
- Take a full-screen screenshot of the "Subscriptions" view, ensuring that the A-code of the license is visible (circled in the image), and attach it to the service request.
- Attach the screenshot you took of the error message in step 5 to the service request.
Send the service request and wait for a response.
If you are unable to log in to the Office service at https://office.com
