How to run the Canon printer drivers repair program?
Applies to staff
This guide is for Metropolia staff, not students.
In what situations does the action bring benefits?
If you are unable to connect to Canon printers from your computer, or the printing does not get queued, or there are various errors during printing, follow the troubleshooting program below.
- Close all Office applications.
- Open the Command Prompt in administrator mode.
Answer "Yes" to the Confirm Execution prompt.
- Navigate to the directory c:\Win\printers\canon.
- Type c:
- Press the Enter key.
- Type cd Win\printers\canon
Press the Enter key.
- Type RestoreCanonPrinters.exe
Press the Enter key.
This will remove the print queues for multifunction devices, their drivers, and reinstall the print queues.
The execution of these tasks takes, depending on the machine, from a couple of minutes to about five minutes. When the program is finished, the print queues for multifunction devices should be available on the machine again.
If print queues are not visible on a Mac computer, what should I do?
Install all updates offered by Managed Software Center, and the print queues should appear on your computer. During the update, your computer should be on a fast network, with the best option being Metropolia's internal network. (Some updates require a VPN connection to be installed if the computer is not on Metropolia's internal network. However, the print queues should also be installed from outside Metropolia via the internet.)
