How can I obtain Metropolia user accounts for my guests or business partners?
Applies to staff members.
The information provided in this response is applicable only to Metropolia employees, not students.
How do I create a temporary visitor account for my guests?
Create visitor accounts through the amme.metropolia.fi service following the instructions provided in Guest's Account
Metropolia staff and partner account users have the ability to create accounts for visitors such as lecturers or other guests. These accounts allow access only to Metropolia computers and the wireless network named "metropolia-guest". They do not provide access to platforms like OMA or Moodle. The usage duration for these accounts is up to one week.
Another suitable use for visitor accounts is for individual lectures or events where participants require access to the wireless network. If it's a large or particularly important event, it is advisable to submit a service request well in advance. The metropolia-guest network has a time-out feature, which may not be suitable for all types of events. If needed, we can arrange a more suitable network solution for your event.
Where can I obtain a user account for an external collaborator, such as a participant in a project or course?
Submit a service request to the helpdesk following the instructions for ordering an account for an external user.
An external user account refers to an account that can be created for individuals who are participating in a project, course, or other activities and frequently use Metropolia computers, such as in auditoriums, but are not Metropolia staff members. These accounts are commonly used for accessing platforms like Wiki or Moodle for collaborative projects with other organizations. These accounts also provide access to Metropolia computers. However, these users do not have an email mailbox or address in Metropolia's email system. Their information is linked to the email address, such as given by their own employer.
Where can I obtain a user account for my partner operating at Metropolia?
Submit a service request to the helpdesk following the instructions forĀ Partner Organisations and Outsoursed Services' Staff
This guidance applies to partners operating within Metropolia whose work requires the use of Metropolia's information systems (e.g., OMA, email).
Examples of partners include the student union (METKA), janitors, restaurant staff, civil service personnel, interpreters, healthcare services, school chaplains, members of long-term projects and initiatives, as well as purchased services staff who require a Metropolia email address.
If a temporary employee has a longer break in their employment contract, such as over the summer, their account will cease to function during that time. By ordering a partner account for the duration of the break, you can ensure uninterrupted access for the person, such as to their email inbox.
Where can I obtain login credentials for a student from another university to access Metropolia's Moodle?
Students from other universities can log in to Metropolia's Moodle using their HAKA credentials. No new accounts are needed.
