WLAN settings

A wireless network is open for visitors in Wireless networks are available for different user groups at all Metropolia locations. Everybody affiliated with Metropolia and all visitors from outside of Metropolia are wellcome to use the network.

All Metropolia's public services as well as internet's HTTP/S, SSH, IMAP/S, SMTPS, FTP, IPSec, RealPlayer, RTMP, SMPP and Citrix are available in the network. Internal services (administrative systems, network shares, etc.) cannot be access from the wireless network.

WLAN information:

eduroam gues network (ohjeet)

  • SSID: eduroam
  • access with eduroam member organizations' user account
  • authentication 802.1x/PEAP
  • encryption: WPA/TKIP ja WPA2/AES
  • network services: internet access and public Metropolia services

Metropolia guest network (ohjeet)

  • SSID: metropolia-guest
  • access with Metropolia user account and guest account
  • authentication with web browser

Metropolia student network (ohjeet)

  • SSID: metropolia-student
  • ccess with Metropolia student and staff user accounts
  • authentication: 802.1x/PEAP
  • ecryption: WPA/TKIP ja WPA2/AES
  • network services: internet access and public Metropolia services, some intranet student services

Metropolian staff network

  • Metropolia staff user account and a laptop maintained by IT Services needed to access the network
  • the network will be automatically available for staff laptops in stages by September 30th 2011
  • can be accessed at the moment using Windows operating system only
  • Mac and Linux users can access staff services using the Staff virtual machine
  • network services: internet access and public Metropolia services, staff intranet services
  • SSID (identifier) = metropolia
  • Password = metropolia
  • Encryption = WPA/WPA2
  • IP settings = automatically from DHCP
