Charge Laptop on Campus
All laptops
You can charge you laptop or other device on Metropolia campuses from a free wall socket. You are not allowed to unplug Metropolia devices from wall sockets. If someone else has already plugged in their laptop to a wall socket, please do not unplug the laptop.
In laboratories, the lab personnel is in charge of wall lab sockets. Ask for their permission to use those wall sockets.
We recommend the following procedure to avoid running out of charge in the middle of studies:
- Charge the battery full for the next day.
- Take turns with other charging laptop. This way everyone has time to charge their devices.
- In many classrooms there are not enough wall sockets for everyone to charge their devices at the same time. But one half of the group can charge their devices e.g. in the morning and the other half in the afternoon.
- If your charging need is not urgent, please leave the wall socket free for someone whose battery is about to run out of charge.
In teaching facilities extension chords are used for fixed devices only. Daisy chaining extension chords is is forbidden on safety grounds. If you find that there are not enough wall sockets in a space, please give feedback to Facilities Management atĀ https://hd.metropolia.fi (after logging in, click on Report new case > Facilities).
Metropolia staff work laptops
Metropolia staff members can charge their laptopsĀ in staff work spaces. Most laptops charge automatically when connected to a docking station. Unfortunately some models, such as power portables and portable with no USB-C connector, are not charged by docking stations. They must be connected with their own chargers to the work station's electric socket. This does not prevent the use of the docking station in other ways: the charger is needed only for charging the laptop.
