Metropolia's servers will be under maintenance Sat 12th June 2021 from 9 am. to 24 pm. The maintenance will cause short breaks to whole server environment.

The maintenance will cause breaks to most of the services provided by Metropolia. For example: Financial and personnel systems, e-mail, Skype for Business, Network Drives (Z, U, W, T, S, P), logging in to Microsoft Office 365, virtual desktops (desktop and securedesktops).

Please prepare yourself to breaks also in other IT services.

We try to keep the breaks and lags caused by the maintenance as short as possible.

We apologize the short time of notice. We are announcing about the breaks always as soon as we are able to know that maintenance will be necessary.

Prepare for summer

Take care of your backups now and have a carefree summer. More information in announcement: Avoid a collapse – take your backups now!

Also keep VPN connection on before vacation as guided in this announcement. If you work in the summer, be sure to keep VPN on for 1-2 hours at a time 2-3 times a week. For this, prefer times when you are not using your computer (NOTE: You should not use VPN during video conferences!). After doing so, it’s more likely that your computer will function well in autumn. If your computer is disconnected from Metropolian intranet or VPN, it may stop working.


All software and system acquisitions through IT Services

For every software and system deployment, we need to be far-sighted. When planning studies for next semester, do not rely on having new software on hands right from the start. Because of our vacations and autumns rush, we don’t have the recourses to bring new softwares into use if we have not agreed to do that earlier. Also, perseverance is needed in legislative processes regarding to software and system acquisitions. Phone service is open until 6:30 p.m. during first weeks of the semester as shown in the table below.

28.6. – 30.7. summer opening hours

Mon-Fri 9 am. – 3 pm.

2.8. – 13.8. short opening hours

Mon-Fri 8.30 am. – 3.30 pm.

16.8. – 17.9. long opening hours

Mon-Fri 8 am – 6.30 pm.

20.9. back to the normal opening hours

Mon-Fri 8 am – 5 pm.
