How do I log in to Sympa?

This answer is for Metropolia staff, not students.
Sympa HR
Sympa HR is a human resources management system developed by Finnish company Sympa Oy. The HR system is used to handle Metropolia's staff matters from the beginning to the end of an employment relationship. Absences and leaves are also applied for in the system. Access to the HR system is granted to Metropolia staff.
- Open your web browser and go to https://www.sympahr.net/metropolia.
The login screen should look the same as when logging into cloud services.
- Log in using your Metropolia username in the format tunnus@metropolia.fi and your password.
If the login screen looks different, for example, like this:
Make sure that your computer is connected to the campus network or that the VPN remote connection is on. The VPN profile should be StaffManaged.- Try again.
Did You Encounter a Problem?
Include the following information in the service request:
- A full-screen screenshot of the login error.
- Were you working remotely or on campus?
- If you were on campus, was your computer at a docking station or connected to the wireless network?
- Your computer's IP address. (You can find it by going to https://ip.metropolia.fi in your browser.)
Did you also try to establish a VPN connection? Double-check that the VPN profile selected when using a Metropolia computer is MetropoliaStaff (a VPN connection is always required for accessing Sympa when working remotely, but on campuses, Sympa should work without it.)"
- Restart your computer and the device where the issue is occurring. Try the function again.
- If the function you are attempting is happening in a web browser, try the function again in an incognito or private window and in a different browser.
- Try searching for a solution on the site of the IT Services by using the following search methods:
- navigation menu of the site (on the left)
- search machine of the wiki (right upper corner)
- a general search engine, for instance Google Search
- alphabetical index
- FAQ
If the problem is not resolved, please contact the helpdesk according to best practices. Always include a full screen screenshot of the issue in your service request.
