How do I recognize an incident?
A security incident refers to an intentional or unintentional event that compromises or may compromise the integrity, confidentiality, or appropriate level of usability of information or services under an organization's responsibility.
A data protection incident refers to the accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration, unauthorized disclosure, or access to personal data.
If you have received a suspicious message that may be related to a security or data protection incident, please follow the instructions provided in I received a suspicious message, what should I do?.
In other cases:
First, familiarize yourself with the website Data security and data protection breach.
If you suspect that you are in a data protection or security incident situation, immediately report your suspicion to Metropolia's helpdesk phone service (on weekdays from 8 am to 4 pm).
After the call, make a report about the incident at https://hd.metropolia.fi. This ensures that the information is received, even though the details will also be recorded in the service request during the customer service interaction.
Select "Personal data breach notification (GDPR)" from the menu.
In your report, provide the following information:
- What happened
- What data has been leaked and how much
- Individuals involved in the incident
- Where and when the incident occurred
- When you noticed the incident.
You will be contacted if necessary. Your involvement in the matter will be considered complete.
